Horse-drawn carriage ride through the mudflats

In July and August 2026, every Tuesday and Thursday evening, a horse-drawn carriage ride will take place through the mudflats of Flakkee. Hop on board the wagon and explore the closed-off nature reserve with a guide from Staatsbosbeheer. Along the way, you might spot roe deer, heck cattle, and Icelandic horses, as well as sky larks, golden plovers, and birds of prey such as the peregrine falcon.

Participation costs €19.50 for adults and €9.50 for children up to 12 years old. The excursion is suitable for children from 6 years old and lasts for two hours. Reservations can be made via the Staatsbosbeheer website.

The starting point is at 7:30 p.m. at the parking lot of the Mudflats on the Bieningenweg in Melissant.
